Something to hang the hat on

I suppose it only took about 5 months, but this is finally something that I'm actually proud to say is pretty much my own work, and is someting that actually functions in a pretty cool way too. That, and it doesn't hurt to get a few votes to the right school.

Check it out.

I blame McKnight...

...and our God awful defense, but they sucked last year and we were at least in the game. I can't find the stats, but he had 3 early drops that would have made 1st downs and put us in position to score and get the game close. Now we all have to wait 2 or 3 years to beat USC while Charlie actually gets the talent that can make use of his coaching ability. Boo Rhema! >:-0

This probably goes without saying but....

...I don't think my stalker is someone anyone would consider as the picture of mental stability. Of course, acting like a complete ass towards the less than mentally stable might not be one of my brighter ideas, but meh, I have too much fun acting like a dick. Anyway, for your reading pleasure, I present a conversation between me and my stalker.

TriDeltGodess (11:48:04 PM): hehehehehe
TterraGnoJ (11:48:19 PM): ?
TriDeltGodess (11:48:24 PM): still perplexed?
TriDeltGodess (11:48:54 PM): hey, we both went to nd, that should narrow the field
TterraGnoJ (11:49:00 PM): IF you're asking if I have any idea who you are, the answer is no
TterraGnoJ (11:49:06 PM): really, there's a shocker
TterraGnoJ (11:49:15 PM): that only narrows it down to a couple thousand people
TriDeltGodess (11:49:20 PM): yup
TriDeltGodess (11:49:34 PM): dont worry about it
TterraGnoJ (11:49:51 PM): I stopped worrying about it a long time ago
TterraGnoJ (11:50:14 PM): I'm now more curious about why you seem to to carrying on this charade
TriDeltGodess (11:50:26 PM): entertainment value
TterraGnoJ (11:50:44 PM): simple things amuse simple minds
TriDeltGodess (11:50:43 PM): and i might see you again
TterraGnoJ (11:51:04 PM): right, cause i ever saw you when we were in the same place
TriDeltGodess (11:51:14 PM): you saw me lots
TriDeltGodess (11:51:56 PM): anyway
TterraGnoJ (11:52:01 PM): ...and that obviously made a huge impression on me
TriDeltGodess (11:52:43 PM): you're so good at giving compliments garrett
TterraGnoJ (11:53:08 PM): its what i do
TriDeltGodess (11:53:43 PM): stick to it, maybe someday your dreams of actually getting somewhere in life will come true
TterraGnoJ (11:54:09 PM): i've been moving along just fine as is
TriDeltGodess (11:54:37 PM): lovely
TriDeltGodess (11:54:45 PM): maybe i'll run into you in NYC
TterraGnoJ (11:54:54 PM): it's a big city
TriDeltGodess (11:55:00 PM): yeah, but i know where to find you
TterraGnoJ (11:55:26 PM): i don't question your stalking abilities
TriDeltGodess (11:55:45 PM): i dont either
TriDeltGodess (11:56:04 PM): anyway, i'd better go
TriDeltGodess (11:56:14 PM): seeya around
TterraGnoJ (11:56:19 PM): right
TriDeltGodess (11:56:33 PM): hahahaha
TriDeltGodess (11:56:44 PM): nighty nightmares
TriDeltGodess signed off at 11:57:06 PM.

Oh, an I discovered I have some of our old conversations from college still kicking around my hard drive too if anyone is actually that curious about said stalker.

Taking the weekend off.

I spent most of the weekend recovering from a little cold so I did the intelligent/loser thing and just hung around my apartment and watched football and movies for the most part. So, I’m just going to list some of the thoughts I’ve had during the week.

I think I might start seriously singing again. A former clubber living in NYC is apparently part of a group called The University Glee Club. I don’t think I’ll join soon enough for their January concert, but I hope to get in contact with the people I need to in order to join for their spring concert.

Because I still eat kid cereals, I noticed on the back of my Cocoa Krispies box, you could go to their website and enter to win a prize. Among these prizes include a watch with a USB connection. What the hell would you ever need that for?

I saw Casino Royale last night. I had kind of grown attached to Peirce Brosnan as Bond, so I wasn’t planning on seeing the new one, but it got great reviews, and a friend of mine called me asking if I wanted to go, so I decided to check it out. I have to say I was impressed. Daniel Craig was much darker than one generally sees form bond. He was definitely not as clean cut a good guy as he normally is.

In my money league for fantasy, I’ve been riding the McNabb/Westbrook combo all season. With McNabb out for the season with a torn ACL, I’m in trouble.

I need to find a good record store in NYC. And by good I mean, good selection and good prices. And by NYC I mean the somewhere from Washington Heights to the West Side. I managed to find a place in midtown that had good prices, but a pretty questionable selection. All I want is the selection of Tower Records with prices of a mom and pop store, is that really too much to ask?

The celebrity sighting

OK, one of the supposed nifty perks of living in NYC is the celebrity sighting. Of course, I don’t pay much attention to mainstream TV, and only pay to see movies made by Kevin Smith, so for all I know I’ve seen 30 celebrities, and I just haven’t realized that people think they’re relevant. Anyway, I think I finally had one last Saturday at the ND game watch. It was Tom McBeath, better known to you Stargate fans as “Harry Maybourne.” The only reason it probably even clicked with me (other than I’m a SciFi nerd) was that he was wearing a USAF hat, and considering he played an Air Force Colonel, I think it seems plausible and that it wasn’t just someone who looked remarkably like him.

Your 'Backer Playlist

One of the perks of going to the ND game watches at McFadden’s is the DJ plays a lot of music reminiscent of the ‘Backer. Two such songs that were played last week were “Rains in Africa” and “Friends in Low Places.” This got me thinking about what would go on my ‘Backer playlist. Including the aforementioned songs, I think it would start something like this:

AC/DC – You Shook Me All Night Long
Usher – Yeah
Bon Jovi – Livin’ on a Prayer
Madonna – Like a Prayer
Guns ‘N’ Roses – Paradise City
Jimmy Buffet – Cheeseburger in Paradise (this one may be a bit questionable)
Michael Jackson – Billy Jean
Billy Joel – Only the Good Die Young

Unfortunately, most of the time I was at said establishment, I was pretty much plastered, so I don’t completely remember what I was listening to. What else do you all think needs to be on this list?

It must be upgrade season

So, within the past few months, we've gotten IE 7.0, Firefox 2.0, AIM 6.0 beta, and there's a new blogger beta. The first 3 are also all bigger than the older versions of course, which combined with my mp3 downloading, is sucking up space on this 6 year old computer all too quickly. I have a feeling I may have either A) buy a new computer, or B) significantly upgrade mine with some new hardware...assuming it's still possible.

Anyway, for those of you who actually use AIM, and don't use something like trillian, I would recommend avoiding the new AIM. It's still pretty buggy, and in some ways seems to take away some of the things I used to be able to do with it. The old AIM is still more fluid to use, though the new version looks like it has some potential, when/if they clean it up.

IE 7.0 is a huge upgrade from 6.0. It's still not firefox, but from a development standpoint alone, it looks I'll have less BS to deal with when trying to write code that is happy in both IE and Firefox.

Other than that, nothing big is going on. Sorry to the CT peeps for the late notice of my trip, but it was good to see the few people I did at least. It's not like I had a whole lot of time to send there anyway.

Looking forward...

...and trying to close my eyes.

Tomorrow I get to spend the day on the company's tab. One of the main things that has helped me get over feeling guilty about this is that Saturday night/Sunday morning at around 2 or 3 am, I have to be up to do some work for the bane of my existence.
