No more sonique

When I first started downloading mp3's in high school on my parents PC (remember when Napster was free and before the legal debate started) I had no mp3 player. Media Player was just awful to use, so I searched for an mp3 player. I tried downloading winamp, but for some reason it disagreed with my parents comp and didn't work, so I looked for a different program, and came across Sonique. When I got my own computer and went off to school, I continued to use Sonique because I had never had any problems with it, and unlike a lot of other mp3's players, it was a fairly small program that didn't come bundled with anything else. Every couple of months or so I would check back to the sonique site and see if there were any upgrades to the software. Last I checked was a few months ago, and they still seemed to be stuck on a alpha version of the latest player. I avoided this because after 5 years and lots of random shit on my PC, I didn't need a buggy alpha version of a program slowing down my computer. Anyway, I did my random check of the site again today, and much to my dismay, I discovered that the program is no longer supported, and it seems to be part of a package with the lycos download service. ::SIGH:: I guess I need to move on to a new program. I used Itunes on my work computer and was generally satisfied, thought not overly impressed with it. Though I could just use something like win amp and continue my aversion to anything related to the apple company.

No luck at the poker table.

The bad beats were flying left and right tonight and I was certainly victim of this. Aside from having just generally crappy hands most of the night, and combining tables when we were down to 8 people meaning I had a relatively small stack compared to the majority of the table, it was just all around badness this evening. (English teachers, please ignore the atrocious grammar of the previous sentence.) Anyway, my final 3 hands, AJ off suit (was ahead and lost on the river). KQ off suit (was ahead and lost on the river). A10 suited (my all-in hand), was ahead pre-flop, then the flop came and the other 2 people in both paired their Q's. Not that I was playing particularly well when there were 2 tables, but to get the shaft after being dealt 3 good hand for 3 out of the last 4 I was in and lose on all of them was just very frustrating.

Spending money I don't have

So last night I broke my playstation controller in somewhat of a freak accident. Apparently after sliding around on my couch after playing Tiger Woods Golf for a while, I had built up some static electricity, and when I got up from said couch I shocked the controller. Later in the evening, after last minute plans fell through, I decided to go back to the beloved playstation for a little God of War. Unfortunately, I couldn't start a game because the x button wouldn't work (along with the rest of the symbol pad). I'm guessing the shock shorted out the controller. This goes along with my other controller, that has a mystery sticky substance on it that also occasionally affects the use of its x button. With two broken controllers, I decided that it was time to go invest in new controllers. That, and there was no football this Sunday and I needed something to do. So now I have two new controllers again. Hopefully I will not have any more "emergency" expenditures such as this during my current state of unemployment.

ND Basketball

We are SO the Providence of last year. We are going to be in every single game, not matter how good or bad our opponent is, and then blow it at the last minute. We'll be lucky if we even make the Big East tournament this year, never mind the NCAAs. Torin Francis needs to grow a pair and learn how to be the big man in the paint. I can't believe he considered turning pro last year. He only plays to his potential about 5 games a year. I'm going to laugh my ass off when he doesn't even get drafted and someone gives Chris Quinn a shot late in the second round.

What this is all about.

So I've been blogging for a while, but it has been tucked off in a hidden corner of the net, and there are some topics that are not as well suited for that blog, so I decided to create this public one. For those of you wondering, no, I'm not going to tell you where it is. My mind is generally a train wreck of thought, and as such, I tend to not write everything down in a manner that makes sense or is cohesive, but hopefully I'll get around to editing things so the make sense eventually.
